Los Mochis High School is proud to announce the inaugural Los Rugrats Invitational. This will be our first year hosting, and our goal is to establish a competitive, efficient, and professionally run tournament that will become a staple on the regional calendar.

We are committed to providing a structured environment that prioritizes competitive integrity, timely rounds, and high-quality judging. While this is our first year, we intend to set a strong foundation for future growth and long-term tradition.

Events Offered Lincoln-Douglas Debate

• Six preliminary rounds

• Elimination rounds determined by entry size (clean break preferred)

• NSDA time format

• Disclosure encouraged

• Judges expected to have posted paradigms on Tabroom

Lincoln-Douglas at Los Rugrats will welcome both traditional and progressive styles. Debaters should be prepared for rigorous clash, clear warranting, and strong comparative analysis.

Congressional Debate

We will host separate House and Senate chambers to ensure competitive balance and manageable chamber sizes.

• Legislation packet released in advance

• Authorship and sponsorship speeches required

• Structured questioning periods

• Parliamentarian oversight in each chamber

• Best Presiding Officer recognition in both divisions

House chambers will accommodate larger entry numbers. Senate chambers will be capped to maintain competitive depth and speaking opportunities.

Judging Requirements

• One judge per two LD entries

• One judge per six Congress entries

• All judges must remain available for the duration of the tournament

• Judges must submit decisions and feedback promptly

We expect judges to evaluate based on argument quality, responsiveness, and clarity of advocacy.
