2026 Salina South Forensics Invitational

Dear Coach,

The Salina South High School forensics squad would like to invite you to our invitational tournament to be held on Saturday, April 18th, 2026.

*We will be co-hosting our invitational alongside the West Kansas NSDA IE National Qualifier.*

Invitational events will include Informative Speaking (7 min. & 10 min.), Original Oratory, Domestic Extemp, Foreign Extemp, Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Duo Interp, Duet Acting, Prose, Poetry, Program of Oral Interpretation, Improvised Duet Acting, and Impromptu. We reserve the right to make round 3 the final round in events with 8 or fewer entries. Combined or collapsed events based on low entries will be communicated prior to the tournament. We will have a concession stand available and will afford amicable time for a fast food lunch.

Medals will be awarded to the top six in each event. Sweepstakes will be based on the top 15 entries from the 3 preliminary rounds. There will be no minimum entry to qualify for team sweepstakes. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place sweepstakes awards. We will follow KSHSAA rules in general, and NSDA rules where KSHSAA is not applicable. Judges are instructed not to penalize students in HI, DI, and Duo/Duet who conform to KSHSAA rules in other classifications. Entry fees are $6 per student entry based upon the entry we confirm on Feb. 14th. Schools will initially be limited to a total of 18 entries with no more than four in an event. Students may compete in up to 3 events with only one scheduled event. Extra entries will be allowed only as space permits, with precedence going to West Kansas schools and schools affording us extras. Please notify us of any changes ASAP to assure a well-scheduled tournament.

NOTES

• Please get your preliminary numbers to me ASAP.

• Impromptu will NOT be pre-scheduled. Speakers will draw, prep, and speak in the allotted 10 minutes. Students may choose to step outside the room while prepping, but speech time begins exactly 5 minutes after draw. Draw categories will be reflective of the KSHSAA manual.

• Sweepstakes Award will be determined by your best 15 entries in all Saturday events.
