Michigan Speech Coaches Inc. Spring IE Festival and Novice State

Hello, coaches!

The 2026 MSCI Novice State Finals and Open tournament will be held on Saturday,

March 14, 2026 at:

Novi High School: 24062 Taft Rd. Novi, MI 48375.
We are so pleased to invite everyone to attend this fantastic day!

We will be hosting two side-by-side tournaments:
● The 2026 Novice State Finals - for competitors who are competing in their first
high school season of Forensic individual events.

● The Open Invitational (Open to all high school or middle school competitors; there will be no 9/10
events).

We are sure that, between the two tournaments, every student will have the opportunity
for a great day of Forensic competition!

Critiques and ballots will be completed online using Tabroom.com. Judges will need to
have a Tabroom.com account, a personal device, and a charger cord to make sure it works
all day). If a judge cannot provide a personal device, please reach out to MSCI President
Amy Janz (amy.janz@grasslakeschools.com) to reserve one of the available
Chromebooks for the day by no later than Tuesday, March 12.

Judges and coaches will have coffee available to them in the judges lounge but there
will be NO coffee service available for students/parents/audience participants.

Registration for the tournament is open, and will close on Tuesday, March 10th at 5:00PM. Any drops occurring
after this time will cost $6 per drop.

Schedule:
7:00-7:45 AM - Registration and Membership renewal (outside Auditorium)
8:00 AM - DC/BC/EX Prep report (Media Center)
8:15 AM - General Meeting for ALL contestants and ALL judges (Auditorium)
8:30 AM - RD1
10:00 AM - RD2
11:30 AM - RD3
1:30 PM - SEMIS and FINALS (for categories who won’t be running a semi)
3:30 PM - FINALS
5:30 PM - Combined Novice and Open IE Award Ceremony

Fees: $25 School Fee, $10/single entry, $15 per Duo: Interpretation and Commentary, $20 per Multiple
Judges: 1 judge per 5 entries (Duo Interp, Duo Commentary and Multiple count as two
entries.)

NOTE: every 3rd judge you provide must be unaffiliated/able to judge your
team (3rd judge, 6th judge, etc.)

**Judges for the Novice State Finals must be an MSCI member or have MIFA IE
Certification. Please indicate through the required questions if your judge is either an
MSCI member (or willing to renew/join) or has an IE certification**

Payment:
● Please make any checks payable to Michigan Speech Coaches Inc.
● You can also pay online through our MSCI Ludus Page. Simply take the amount
that Tabroom says you owe, and then follow the instructions given on the Ludus
webpage.
