Dear Coaches,
Adlai E. Stevenson High School is excited to invite you to our first LD/PF tournament on Saturday, February 7th. We are looking forward to hosting our debate community and providing students with another opportunity to engage in debate. Registration will open on Friday, January 16th.
Lincoln-Douglas Resolution:
Resolved: The possession of nuclear weapons is immoral.
Public Forum Resolution:
Resolved: The Federal Trade Commission should establish a federal regulatory framework for sports betting.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Registration: 7:30-8:15am
Judge Meeting: 8:15am
Round 1: 8:45am
Round 2: 9:45am
Round 3: 11:00am
Lunch: 12:00pm
Round 4: 12:45pm
Awards: 2:15pm
Tournament Registration Fees and Judging
LD-PF Divisions: Varsity – Open Division
Junior Varsity – less than two years of Debate experience
Novice – less than one year of Debate experience
Fees: $30 per debater in LD
$30 per team in PF
Judging: One full judge is required for every two debaters, rounding up, in LD.
One full judge is required for every two teams, rounding up, in PF.
Example: If you have 3 LD entries, you need to provide 2 judges.
Responsible Varsity Debaters in their Senior year of high school may
judge in the Novice Division.
(They cannot also compete in the tournament.)
Trophies/Medals: Trophies will be given to the top 5 places of each division in each event
and medals will be awarded to the top speakers.
Entry Limits: 4 Debaters/Teams per division
We will create a waitlist and begin adding debaters over the limit after registration closes.

Parking
Buses should drop off students in Lot D, in front of Door 19. This lot is north of the intersection of Stevenson Drive and Route 22. Follow the signs for Parking Lot D. Parking for mini-buses and individual cars can also be in Lot D.
Lunch and Concessions
Concessions will be available, and pizza can also be purchased ahead of time by coaches. Food for judges will be provided.
