Kaplan Contraband Classic

Dear Coaches,

The Kaplan High School Speech and Drama Team cordially invites you to the 28th annual Kaplan Contraband Classic. Our tournament will take place on February 20th and 21st , 2026. We are very excited to be able to offer the following events: Original Oratory, Declamation, Student Congress, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Oral Interpretation, Extemporaneous Speaking, Duo Interpretation, Novice Impromptu, Varsity Impromptu, Prose, and Poetry.

As always, I am a bit concerned with room availability. I hope we will be able to accommodate each school and their prospective entries. If the need should arise, we may have to limit school entries in events. Please make your students aware of this. I should know Wednesday evening what those numbers look like and will email coaches if limiting entries is necessary.

We are making an effort to involve our community, therefore the majority of the judges will be community judges. However, we would prefer using experienced judges for final rounds. Entry fees will be standard.

New tournament entries are due Wednesday Feb. 18 5pm. The deadline to drop and add for this tournament without penalty, will be Friday Feb. 20 4pm
