The State & National Qualifying Congress Tournament for Alabama

On February 6th, the State of Alabama will conduct a combined State and NSDA National Qualifying Tournament at the Vestavia Hills Civic Center. NSDA member schools may enter all 3 Chambers of Congress. A non-NSDA member school may only enter the 1 Chamber labeled : House - State Only. We will begin at 12:15 pm to allow teams from Mobile to Huntsville to be able to participate without having to leave those cities prior to 6 am. We will conduct an awards assembly after the 2 sessions have concluded.

Each school may submit up to 2 pieces of legislation for debate. Legislation is due to Jay Rye by Thursday, January 22nd. The Legislative Docket will be emailed to all participating coaches on Friday, January 23rd giving all teams 2 weeks to prepare. Coaches can email their legislation to :

For the Senate, each school may enter up to 2 students.

For the House - National Qualifier, each school may enter the number of students allowed according to the NSDA which is based on the number of members and degrees on record 7 days prior to the tournament, which will mean Jan 30, 2026.

For the House - State Only, each school may enter up to 6 students.
