2026 Locomotive Invitational Tournament

Laurel High School cordially invites you to the Laurel Locomotive Speech, Drama and Debate Tournament on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Please register ASAP with all expected entries at http://laurel.tabroom.com/

REGISTRATION:

There will be no live registration the morning of the tournament; invoices will be handed out in the tabroom. Any drops can be texted the morning of the tournament to (406)546-4798 or emailed to Liz_Schwartz@laurel.k12.mt.us. An entry fee of $6.00 will be charged for each participant. Registration and adds must be completed on tabroom.com by Monday, January 5, 2026 at 5:00pm. Please sign up as early as possible, so we can start figuring out judges.

Each school may enter up to three entries in each event. Dual Entry will be allowed. AA schools may register only novice and JV competitors. Students who drop after Thursday 1/8 at 6:00pm will be charged as if they are competing. If you have drops after this time, please call Liz at (406) 546-4798 or email them to her at Liz_schwartz@laurel.k12.mt.us.

MHSA Rules:

All events will be conducted in accordance to the MHSA Handbook with the FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:

  • Coaches will be asked to judge.

Policy Topic: Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly increase its exploration and/or development of the Arctic.

LUNCH:

The Concession Stand will be open for students at Laurel High School from 8am-4pm and at Laurel Middle School from 8am-2pm. There are several restaurants nearby that deliver also. Food will be provided in the hospitality room in both buildings for judges, coaches and drivers.

COMPETITION SITE:

At this time, Speech events will be held at Laurel High School, and Debate/Drama events will be held at the Middle School. All finals will be held at Laurel High School. The depot (cafeteria/commons) will be the commons area for contestants in the High school and the cafeteria at the Middle School. Students should be in the commons area when not in rounds and will have designated areas. The awards assembly will be in the Laurel High School auditorium at approximately 6:30 pm.

COMPETITION:

There will be four preliminary rounds (with a drop), and finals in all. The schedule for the day is:

AWARDS: Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded for first in Speech and in Drama in AA, A, B & C classes. Medals and ribbons will be presented to individual finalists.
