Welcome!

Welcome to the the First Annual TeaCup! We are excited to host a 1-day tournament of speech and debate in January. Our current plan is to offer 2 rounds of IEs and 4 rounds of debate (CFC style if you've been around long enough to remember those). Our goal is to give a lower-pressure tournament option right away for the new topics. We have a wonderful expanded facility at TAHS, and we are excited to show it off! Please see the letter from our Team Co-Captain Brody Miller; this tournament is his senior project.

Some details:

Concessions - It is sounding promising that we will have a full concessions stand for most of the day with the usual fixings: pizza, hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. Cash would be a good idea, though we do have an ATM available.

WiFi - I think we will have wifi available for sure for extemp prep. Details will be available at the tournament.

Novices - We want this tournament to be an opportunity for all skill levels, but especially to recognize the work of new competitors. We will recognize top novices in IE categories, but in anticipation of smaller entry sizes, our IE events will be open to both varsity and novice competitors.

Awards - Expecttea (and other cozy beverages) for top speakers in Debate and Individual Events in addition to the top novices. We will also be recognizing quality over quantity in our sweepstakes Lightning and Thunderbolt awards.

Arrival - Saturday morning you can arrive to our main parking lot. We now have two entrances, please use the northern most entrance and go directly to the PAC. We will have registration there, as well as the general meeting before moving to the Activity Commons to let extemp prep use the auditorium.
