Dear Competitors, Coaches, and Judges,

The Cypress Debayte Team cordially invites you to attend the Tradition, held in person at Cypress Bay High School campus in Weston, FL on December 13-14th, 2025. We are proud to offer the following formats of debate: Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum, Congress, and World Schools Debate. We are opening Policy Debate and Big Questions Debate tentatively if there is sufficient interest, but without diversity of schools we will not run the event(s). We will be offering the following Individual Events in two patterns: Extemporaneous Speaking(A), Dramatic Interpretation (A), Original Oratory (A), Informative Speaking(A), Extemp Debate (A). Humorous Interpretation (B), Duo Interpretation (B), Programmed Oral Interpretation (B), Impromptu Speaking (B), After Dinner Speaking (B). Please note: we reserve the right to collapse or cancel undersubscribed events, but we will inform teams as soon as a decision is made and give the opportunity to switch events in that case. As in years past, we are privileged to offer bids to the Tournament of Champions in the following categories:

Gold PF - Quarters

Silver PF - Octos

LD: Finalist

Congress: Top 16

IE (Extemp, OO, Info, HI, DI, Duo, POI) - If 24 or fewer entries, Top 3; if 25 to 72 entries, Top 7; if 73 to 125 entries, Top 14; if 125 or more Top 24. We also are excited to be a NIETOC qualifier this year as well.

Middle School/Novice: We have separate divisions of Middle school and Novice for debate and Congress and middle school for some speech events. All other events are open. If Middle School/Novice is undersubscribed we will collapse into varsity and recognize a top MS/Novice in those events.

We are excited to once again feature ship awards for Sweepstakes, Champions and Top Speakers. Our theme this year is On the High Seas-the ships will be pirate themed!

Topics:

We will be using the November/December topic for PF/LD and the NSDA topic for policy and Big Questions

WSD: There will be 3 pre-prepared rounds-2 in prelims and one in finals. All other rounds will be impromptu motions.

Prepared motions: This House would eliminate the cash bail system.
