The Big Red Mackie National Warmup
2026 — Online, US
You and your team are cordially invited to attend The Big Red Mackie National Warmup hosted by Denison University and Mercer University!
EVENTS
IPDA Debate
- The tournament is aiming to host 5 prelim rounds with a break to quarters - this will be adjusted closer to the tournament based on entries - so please enter your debaters! We want this to mimic the rigor of the IPDA National Championship to help students prepare for the final tournament of the year!
- Prep time is 30 minutes, with topic areas for each round to ensure debate around a centralized idea.
- Entry fee is $25/competitor. Each entry requires 3 rounds of judge commitment (this assumes 5 prelim rounds; if we only have 4 rounds, judge commitment will be lowered to 2 rounds); schools incur a $75 fine per uncovered entry. Judges are committed through the first elim round or the round after their school's last debater is eliminated from the tournament, whichever happens last.
- Elim round brackets will not be broken.
***If you have an interest in bringing your TIPDA competitors, please email Dalton to express your interest. As of right now, the tournament will not offer that division but should there be enough interest, we will offer it! It seems like a cool format :)***
NPDA Parliamentary Debate
- Tournament structure will be determined by the number of entries; for now, we plan on holding 5 prelim rounds, with a break to octafinals.
- Prep time is 30 minutes.
- Entry fee is $60/team. Each entry requires 3 rounds of judging; schools incur a $150 fine per uncovered entry. Judges are committed through the first elim round or the round after their school's last entry has been eliminated from the tournament, whichever happens last.
- Hybrid teams and maverick entries are allowed.
- All winning records will clear to elims, and elim brackets will be broken.
***IMPORTANT NOTES***
(1) We want to host Novice and JV divisions in each event, so please enter your debaters in those divisions! If we have to collapse divisions, we will host a Novice final breakout alongside Open elimination rounds.
(2) If financial costs are a barrier to participation for you/your team (especially if you are an independent/student run program), please email Dalton to discuss lowered entry fees.
