Sumner Academy is excited to host the first Debate-KC Middle School Tournament of the 2025-2026 NAUDL Season.

There will be two divisions of Policy Debate, open and novice, and two divisions of Congress, open and novice.

There will be 1 round of Congress with 2 sessions and a break between sessions. The break should occur around 5:25-5:35.

There will be 2 rounds of Policy Debate.

For the first two DKC MS tournaments the only affirmative that should be read is Icebreakers. If a team reads an affirmative case other than that, they are forfeiting the round.

Session II (Which is really a continuation of Session I) Ice Breakers - Robot Tax - Tariffs

Debate-KC has agreed to prohibit motions to suspend the docket in order to debate session 1 bills in session 2 or vice-versa. Please tell your students not to try. We will also be informing the judges to not allow such motions.

The top 3 schools will be awarded sweeps. There will also be awards for the top policy teams and speaker awards.

Round Schedule:

Congress Round: 4:00p-7:00p - Break around 5:25p-5:35p

Policy Round 1: 4:00p-5:15p

Policy Round 2: 5:30p-6:45p

Dinner and Awards will follow ASAP.
