Puget Sound Logger CARD Season Opener 2025
2025 — Tacoma, WA/US
Invitation
2025 Puget Sound Logger CARD Tournament
University of Puget Sound
Tacoma, WA
October 18-19, 2025
Greetings,
The University of Puget Sound forensics squad is pleased to invite you to the 2025 Puget Sound Logger CARD Tournament and CARD season opener. This year's tournament will take place from October 18-19, 20235. We invite you to attend this tournament and enjoy the "warmth" of the Northwest. The tournament will offer hybrid forms of competition, but we strongly encourage programs to attend in person.
Competition will be help in:
- CARD (Collegiate Advocacy Research Debate)—please refer here for information on speech times and format.
- All Judges should review the judging guide for information on CARD judging norms. Importantly, we seek judges who focus on student educational growth from the perspective of a judge-educator and critic of argument and decision-making paradigms and RFDs should reflect an educational perspective.
- Full-text articles in the community library are available via a shared drive.
- Information on the community library is available here
- Participants can utilize any portion of any article listed in the established community library but not cite material not in the community library as in-round evidence.
All teams will debate the Fall 2025 CARD resolution:
Resolved: The United States should actively promote substantially greater unionization by implementing the Protecting the Right to Organize Act or facilitating sectoral bargaining.
We work to keep costs low for all attendees and do not seek to make monies off of hosting a tournament. As a result, we will have minimal awards but will offer significant recognition to student competitors.
Please let us know if you any questions or require any further information.
Sincerely,
Derek Buescher, PhD Matt Coleman, JD
Professor, Department of Communication Studies Debate Coach
Director of Forensics University of Puget Sound
