Puget Sound Logger CARD Season Opener 2025
2025 — Tacoma, WA/US
Tournament Information
We are excited to host you in person or online for the CARD season opener this weekend. I wanted to send out some additional details about the weekend mostly for those in person, but please read through as some nuggets for all are in this message.
Location—Thompson Hall
We are not in our typical campus building this year. The tournament will take place entirely in Thompson Hall. Thompson Hall is building #47 on this map which is also embedded in the invitation. You can park in lot P4 on the map. The building address is 1517 N. Union Avenue, but the turn into the parking lot is about North 15thand Union.
Zoom Link
Online judging and debates will take place though the this zoom link. Please make sure all participants have access to the zoom link and updated versions of zoom on their computers. https://pugetsound-edu.zoom.us/j/81922704106?pwd=ea4aNlHkcMV2xbGLSUox0UZFkj6P4t.1
Food and Central Area—Thompson 193
The central space for people to congregate between rounds is Thompson 193. This space will also be where food is set up. Light breakfasts of coffee, tea, pastries, and fruit should be set up by 7:30 AM both days. Lunch will be served about noon on Saturday and is Chipotle burritos for those without dietary restrictions and a Chipotle build your own for only those with dietary restrictions. Please bring your own water bottles to refill. We will also have snacks available for the awards on Sunday.
All-Gender Restrooms
All-gender restrooms are available on each floor of Thompson in rooms 192, 294, 396, and 406.
Tab—Thompson 178
Tab (Derek) will be located in Thompson 178 should you have a question. I will also be popping in and out of Thompson 193. Also, thanks to Richie for managing the speaker award and all the work on cardtab!
Schedule
The schedule posted on the tournament splash page is PST with release times of pairings noted, not round start times. Start times are 25 minutes after the pairing is released and blasts will note the round start time. You can look at a detailed schedule here.
Payment
I will attempt to get a card reader for the weekend, but I have been out ill this week and am not sure I can make that happen. Mailed checks are fine. For payment, I have looked over the invoices and believe they are mostly correct at this time. I have one email out to clarify a judge coverage. Please take a look and double-check before submitting payment. Let me know if you have any questions. The invoices should correctly list payment address and checks should be made payable to University of Puget Sound Forensics.
Judging
We are looking pretty good with judging now this weekend. I am hopeful I will not need to beg people to pick up a ballot or pick up an extra ballot. I appreciate everyone filling their judging commitments as that helps tournaments run much more smoothly. I know some judges are listed for one program but covering entries for other programs and think I have that corrected for payment purposes. If anything looks incorrect, please let me know.
