Tournament Information

The Lennox Speech and Debate would like to welcome you to the Take Flight tournament taking place on December 13 at Lennox High School/JH.

This tournament will offer 4 rounds of debate and 3 rounds of speech. We are going to try offer a hidden final round in all events.

Here is the new schedule

Debate 1- 10:00 Debate

2- 11:15 Congress- Seat at 12:15- 2:50

IE 1- 12:30 IE 2- 1:45

Debate 3- 3:00

Debate 4- 4:15

Awards around 5:45

I will be here in the school early in the morning (probably around 7 AM), so if you arrive at 9 AM or earlier, I'll be here. You just watch me finish setting things up and hang out in the cafeteria. Please let judges know if they are not driving with the team. Thank you for your understanding!

Special Notes:

Impromptu- We will be offering Impromptu as a speech event. We will be following NSDA rules. A student can be double entered in Impromptu and other events (EXCEPT EXTEMP)

Round 1- Quotations

Round 2- Birds (a Species of bird with a description like A colorful bird that exhibits traits like mobbing predators and territorial singing.)

Round 3- Quotations

Extemp Restrictions-Extemp will draw and speak in the same time period that other events happen. To make sure that this can happen, the size of sections will be limited in size and students doing extemp will not be able to be double entered in other events. You CAN NOT double enter in extemp and other speech/interp/congress events. You can do extemp and debate events.

We will be offering a single division of varsity extemp. Students will be able to pick from a list of international questions or domestic questions.

Entry Limits: To help make sure there is more balance in competition and make sure that we have plenty of room, you will be limited to no more 5 entries in every event. I don't think this will impact too many people, but if you have a large group of novice, you might need to limit the number that can attend. If you have questions about this, please feel free to reach out.

Concessions: We will be offering concessions throughout the day. We will open them up around 10:30 and keep them open until 4:30 pm. Main food will be sold from 11:00-3:00pm. We will have hot dogs, pizza, Baked potatoes, and other items for sale.

Awards: We will be giving special awards to the top three in all speech events and the top 2 in all debate events. Finalists (and placed 3-5 in debate) will receive certificates.
