Lennox Orioles Oral Interp Invitational
2025 — Lennox, SD/US
The Lennox School District would love to invite you to our Oral Interp Invitational.
I would like to invite you to the Oriole Oral Interp Invite for October 21 (Tuesday). I am excited to invite everyone this tournament.
Changes: There are going to be a few changes this year.
The schedule has been altered some to provide a supper break between round 2 and 3.
Each school will have a limit of 5 entries per event. If you have questions about this, please feel free to contact me. This is to help make sure that there are plenty of rooms available and better balance in competition.
We will also have a cap of 100 total entries for the tournament. This means that if you get a notice that the tournament is capped, you will placed on a waitlist. If that happens, I will try an reach out to you and let you know if we will have room. This is something that is new to me, and I hope that I will be able to go beyond 100 entries; however, I needed to pick a place to start. So, thank you for your patience.
The building will look a little different now that construction is done. We will have you enter in through the main entrance as normal. Just a reminder that we do not dismiss until 3:25, so please try and get here around that time.
The schedule for the tournament will be as follows:
3:30 Schools check-in
3:45 General Meeting
4:00 Round 1 of all events
5:00 Round 2 of all events
Supper break between round 2 and 3
6:30 Round 3 of all events
8:00 Awards
Students may enter two events. If a student is entered in RT and another event, it will be very important that they follow the rules when they should perform the RT and the other event. STUDENTS MAY NOT BE TRIPLE ENTERED IN THE TOURNAMENT!
We will be blasting out the schedule and it will give you a more in-depth look at results after the tournament. Registrations are due by October 17 at 6PM. Fees will be set on October 20 at 6 PM. No additions after that and you must pay for all drops after that date. Please make sure you double check your entries. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED AT TOURNAMENT TIME!
If you do not want to register online, you can also e-mail the registration to me at Michael.larson@k12.sd.us. We will be printing out the results as well as having them available online.
The cost for the tournament is $4 for individual entries, $6 for duo, and $12 for Reader’s Theater. You are required to cover 1 judge for every 5 entries. (Please note, each RT or Duo counts as one entry. It is not based on the number of students entered.) This means if you have 2 Duos, 1 RT, 2 HI, and 2 Storytelling, you will need to bring 2 judges. Schools will need to supply their own judges. I can supply a few hired judges at a rate of $70 per judge, but I will only have 2 or 3 available. Please let me know if you need help with this. If you are bringing an inexperienced judge to fill your roster, please do two things: First, encourage them to watch the NFHS video that the SDHSAA sends out for judges doing the state events. Second tell me in the comments for the judge’s preferences. I will try to keep them in the events that are discussed in the video. If you have extra judges, please let me know and I will contact schools in need.
Every student will receive a ribbon from the performances. We will be asking judges to rank and rate students. To receive a superior plus award, a selection would need a rank of 5 or less and at least 84 speaker points. This is a little different than other tournaments, so I wanted to let you know ahead of time. Otherwise, we will also be handing out ribbons for Superior, Excellent Plus, Excellent, and Good. The breakdown for speaker points and awards is as follows:
Superior (or +): 90-84
Excellent Plus: 83-80
Excellent: 79-71
Good: 70-60
