MNUDL Jamboree at Highland Park
2025 — St Paul, MN/US
Welcome to the MNUDL Jamboree!
This year, a Policy specific Jamboree will be held in a separate location from the main tournament - that's this tournament, the MNUDL Jamboree! Non MNUDL schools are more than welcome to enter Policy entries into the MNUDL Jamboree. You can find the main Jamboree tournament (which hosts Lincoln Douglas, Congress, Public Forum, and Policy formats) at this url or by searching "MDTA Jamboree" on tabroom.
The MNUDL Jamboree will be held at Highland Park High School (information below). JV and Varsity will have three debates. Novice (A, B, and C), will watch a demo debate during round 1, then have the opportunity to either compete round 2 or participate in a workshop, then either compete in round 3 or observe a debate. The Novice coach on site for your school will make the determination of whether your Novice debaters debate one or two debates.
We will also have classrooms available for students competing in the Mid America Cup (online) from 7:30am to 7:00pm. If you have partnerships competing in the Mid America Cup from this tournament's physical location, please let Jake Swede know ASAP (text 507-382-3740).
When registering for the tournament, please read through all the information below:
Tournament Location
Highland Park High School
1015 Snelling Ave S, St Paul, MN 55116
When parking at or entering to Highland Park High School, please makes sure you are in the parking lot on the southwest side of the school. The best way to access the parking lot is off of Edgecumbe Road (which is just south of the high school). The main entrance to the high school is next to the large flagpole. Do not park on Snelling Ave or try to enter from the Snelling Ave side of the building - the doors are locked and inaccessible on that side of the building.
We will be using both the high school and middle school, which are joined together. The high school is the southern building, the middle school is the northern building. Please enter through the high school and head to the cafeteria.
Tournament Schedule

Round 1: 10:00am-11:45am

Round 2: 12:45pm-2:30pm
Round 3: 3:00pm-4:45pm

Very important ------->>>>>Please arrive to the tournament between 8:45am-9:15am. The minute your team is on the bus and moving please text the Tournament Director, Jake Swede, at 507-382-3740. Let him know who you are, your ETA to the tournament, and if any changes to registration need to be made (including debaters and judges). <<<<<<--------
I recommend planning to have your buses pick up at 5:30pm in the Highland Park HS parking lot or on Snelling Ave. Make sure the bus driver contacts you about where they are.
If you have students competing online in the Mid America Cup, please have them arrive by 7:30am so they can get set up for their first debate. Ideally, these students will transport themselves to/from the tournament so that your larger team isn't waiting two hours before their first debate. If you bring your full team at 7:30am, please have something for them to do between 7:30-9:30am, as the tournament staff will be setting up during this time.
Standard practice notes:
There should ALWAYS be an adult with your team at the tournament. You cannot drop off students unsupervised or leave them unsupervised at a tournament.
At least one of your team's coaches should have your students' emergency contact information with them in a physical file for ease of access in case of any emergency.
You should have one judge for every two partnerships you have entered in the tournament (MNUDL schools you are excluded from this). If you have an odd number of partnerships, round your judge obligation up to the nearest whole. If you are missing a judge, the tournament reserves the right to charge you for the standard cost of hiring plus a judge finding fee ($145 per judge).
We will be serving pizza, snacks, and water for lunch - there will also be snacks available before round 3 and before awards. Please know your students' dietary restrictions so that we can provide them with food as necessary. Ideally, communicate any restrictions at least a week in advance to the tournament.
Thanks and see you at Highland Park!
