Speech and Debate events will take place through NSDA rooms on Saturday through the virtual platform. We are guaranteeing 3 rounds of debate, 2 rounds of Congress, and 3 rounds of IE's.

Judge Requirements: 1/4 or part thereof for LD, 1/2 or part thereof for CX, 1/4 or part thereof for Congress, and 1/6 or part thereof for IE's. Judging fees are $150 which is what we pay the judge.

Plus, we’ve secured experienced hired judges ready to give helpful, detailed feedback to get your students primed for the upcoming UIL season.

How will a VIRTUAL Academic tournament work?

We will send you the tests requested digitally the week before the tournament.

You test your students at home. We will give you a deadline to have this done by.

If the test is a Writing event, you will follow the instructions on how to submit them for grading by hired judges. We will have judges that will be judging the Journalism events. If there are Writing events entered, we will have a $20 judging fee per school added to help offset the cost of hiring the quality judges needed to judge all of the papers.

If the test is an objective event, you will grade the multiple choice section and submit the scores in your own personal spreadsheet that will be provided for your school. In Social Studies, Lit Crit, and CIE, essays will be submitted into a folder separately for consideration in tiebreaking.

We will then compile all scores look at essays for tiebreakers, and announce the winners by conference and mail out the awards.
