Novice divisions will be offered in speech events (where numbers permit)

 

Entry fees: $10 per entry 

Students may double or triple enter in speech events.

Students may also double enter in one debate event and one speech event (a total of two entries, but – again – only one debate event).

Supplemental events are free to students who have entered at least one main event.

Checks should be made payable to Dallastown Forensics Booster Club.

 

NCFL judging rules will apply to all events except congress and parli. Congress will follow NSDA judging rules. Parli debate will follow PHSSL rules.

 

Judging

1 judge per every 4 speech, public forum, or congress entries.

1 judge per every 2 Lincoln-Douglas or parli entries.

1 judge per every 1 policy team.

A limited amount of judges may be available for hire.

 

Supplemental Events

During semifinal/final rounds, students will have the opportunity to compete in the following free (and festively Halloween – themed) supplemental events:

Impromptu – students will have 2 minutes to prepare a 5 minute speech on a selected topic. Topics may include quotes, aphorisms, etc.

Improvisational Duo – a team of two students receive a scenario that they must act out as creatively as possible using no props. Time limit is three minutes.

Extemporaneous Debate – two students will debate a topic with limited preparation.

Storytelling – Students will read and interpret a Halloween-themed selection of no more than 5 minutes. Manuscript/book may be used, but pictures should not be displayed. A limited amount of source material will be available for student use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own selections.

 

Awards

Individual awards will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place competitors in each of the main events.

Individual Sweepstakes will be awarded to the best scoring student who competed in two or more events.

Team Sweepstakes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best scoring team (accounting for entry size).

Additional awards will be presented to students competing in supplemental events.

 

Concessions/Meals

Food will be available for purchase (cash only please) throughout the day in the cafeteria, including breakfast, lunch, and an assortment of snack items.
