Hello, Iowa speech and debate directors!

On behalf of the Iowa Forensic League committee, I am excited to invite your programs to compete at theIowa Forensic League Season Opener at beautiful Dowling Catholic High School on October 4, 2025! The tabroom page is linked here.

We offer all main NSDA speech (Oratory, Informative, all the Interps, and Extemp) and debate (Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Congress) events alongside Spontaneous Speaking. There will be novice divisions of debate events.

Our hope and aim is to provide a positive educational experience for all students, allowing them to kick off their season strong. We plan on hiring some judging from the community. Lunch will be provided!

We will expect IFL dues to be paid alongside your tournament entry fees. If you have any questions about that, please reach out.

If you are a new director and need help with anything regarding speech and debate (registering for tournaments, setting up practices, coaching different events, etc.) please reach out to me or any of the other IFL committee members. We want Iowa speech and debate to grow!
