This tournament is back on SATURDAY, 9/20. No longer a friday tournament. We hope this will help with judge availability and transportation.
ATHENS TFA IQT
The Athens High School Speech and Debate Team would like to invite you back to our full TFA tournament Saturday September 20th. We hope you’ll join us.
The details for the tournament:
Deadlines: The deadline to enter is Tuesday September 16 at 5:00 PM.. Drops s made after Wednesday, September 17 at 12:00 pm will result in the loss of your entry fee. Drops made the day of the tournament will result in a $100.00 drop fee.
Cross Entering: At the moment, cross entering is permitted between section A & B speaking events. DEBATERS MAY NOT cross enter. Tournaments are running too long :(
We will potentially re-assess closer to registration opening.
Judging: Each school will be required to provide reasonably qualified judges using this customary formula:
CX Debate: One judge per two teams or part thereof.
LD Debate: One judge per four entries or part thereof.
PFD: One Judge per four teams or part thereof.
Speaking Events: One judge for each 6 entries or part thereof.
We reserve the right to use school judges in events outside their entries to cover other events.
We may use experienced varsity high school students to judge novice debate events.
Events Offered:
TFA Tournament: Policy debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, Novice Congressional Debate, Novice CX, Novice LD, Novice PF. Domestic Extemp (DX), International Extemp, (IX), Novice Extemp (NX), Impromptu Speaking (Im), Original Oratory, (OO), Informative Speaking, (inf), Humorous Interpretation (HI), Dramatic Interpretation (DI), Program of Oral Interpretation (PoI), Duo Interpretation (Duo), and Duet Acting (DA).
Section A IEs - FX, DX, DI, Duet, OO, Poetry
Section B IEs - Info, Imp, HI, Duo, Prose, POI
We will NOT break brackets in debate events.
Hospitality for coaches & judges will be provided by our enthusiastic booster club, hope you’re hungry.
They will also have a concession stand where students may purchase various items.
