Asynchronous Supplemental Jamboree

2025 — NSDA Campus, OH/US

Welcome to the second annual Asynchronous Supplemental Jamboree!

Maybe you're trying to get feedback on your students' supplementals ahead of the NSDA National Tournament. Or, maybe you're encouraging your students to try something new in a short, five-minute category with little to no pressure. Either way, this tournament is a perfect spot for you!

THE GIST: Students upload videos of their performances for Expository, Original Spoken Word Poetry, Prose, Poetry, or Storytelling. Judges offer valuable feedback and score your students accordingly. In events with enough entries, we'll break to elimination rounds. At the end of the tournament, you'll receive ballots, scores, and a printable participation/placement certificate for each of your students.

WHY SHOULD YOU ENTER? It's a low-stakes, low-cost opportunity for feedback for your students. It's also a great fundraiser for a fellow S&D program as we gear up for a 10-hour drive to Des Moines this June!

ENTRIES: Students must register and upload videos no later than Wednesday, June 4 at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Check your links and ensure they work ahead of the tournament. From there, your students sit back and wait! That night, we'll send out rounds for judges to complete ballots and turn in ranks for rounds due by later that week.

JUDGES: For every five students you submit, you must submit one judge. We do not offer judges for hire. Please ensure your judges turn in scores and ballots -- failure to do so may result in dropping your school's entries!

RULES: All entries must follow NSDA rules for each competitive category, including recently revised rules in Storytelling about standing or kneeling on chairs. Each event is intended for five minutes with a thirty second grace period, though judges can use their discretion when penalizing students for exceeding time limits. There is no time minimum.

SCHEDULE: Preliminary rounds begin Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. There will be three rounds for each student and completed by Friday.

IN SUMMARY: All registration must be completed and videos must be uploaded by Wednesday, June 4 at 12 p.m. EST. Every school must provide a judge for every five entries. The judges must adhere to all deadlines, or that school's entries will be dropped and no feedback or refund will be given. All events are asynchronous and all must adhere to NSDA Tournament rules. Events are limited to five minutes with a 30-second grace period.
