STATE QUALS SPEECH

Reminder to all schools that in order to participate in STATE QUALS Speech or Debate, schools must participate in either Spring Varsity Speech or Spring Varsity Debate at a ratio of 1:4. (for every entry at SV or SD, schools get 4 entries at SQS or SQD)

Schurr High School on Saturday, Feb 22--All CHSSA speech events

All competitors must be students in grades 9-12.

FOUR-YEAR SENIORS will be recognized at State Quals by the coaches of their teams

COACH REQUIREMENT:

If You, the coach of record, are NOT going to be attending the tournament, you must send either an employee representing your school and have them check in your team at the beginning of the tournament.

IF You, the coach of record, are sending a volunteer and/or parent to care for your team. You MUST have a letter from your school, signed by your principal indicating the person you are sending is the official "chaperone" of your team for the day. The letter must be turned in to the tournament director prior to the beginning of the tournament. Failure to do so may result in your student not being allowed to compete

WHOMEVER you put in charge of your team should have the student emergency medical forms / permission slips / parent contact forms for your team. Protect your students, yourself and your "representative"

Where: Schurr High School

Events: All California Speech Events

Students may enter 2 speech events

Students can NOT double enter in both extemps

Entries:

- Initial Entries are due to the Tabroom website by 5pm on Friday, Feb 14.

Judges: Judges Requirement 1 judge for every 5 entries

Fees: $12 per entry ($24- for DUO/POLICY) these will be billed after this tournament.

Eligibility:In order to be eligible for competition schools must have:

1. Paid their CHSSA FEES

2. Paid their SCDL FALL BILL

3. Paid their $50 league dues (first year programs exempt)

4. Teams have to have competed at Spring Varsity, or in the Varsity division at Spring Debate -

8am1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 1

9:45: 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 2

11:30am:1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 3

2:15pm:1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - Semis

4:30pm:1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - Finals
