20th Annual KCKCC Policy Debate TOC Qualifier
2025 — Kansas City, KS/US
8. Costume Contest
With this year's tournament overlapping with Halloween, we are hosting a Halloween Costume Contest on Friday, October 31st! All coaches, judges, and students are invited to both participate and vote for the winners. The only caveat is that each individual is only allowed one entry. All entries and voting will be handled through Tabroom.com.
To enter an entry: Enter an entry in the "Costume Contest" division on Tabroom. You will have the option to select between 1-20 students (please try and make this accurate, as possible) and a name for the costume theme your entry chooses (for example, if you are all dressing up as Mario characters, please specify that). If you are a Hire Exchange judge that would like to participate, please reach out to Jacob to enter.
To enter someone to judge: Please enter anyone interested in voting for the Costume Contest in the "Costume Contest" judging category on Tabroom. Students and individuals may also sign up by themselves by clicking the "Judge Sign Up" tab on the main Tabroom page.
How the contest will work: All entries are expected to dress up on Friday, October 31st, during rounds 1 and 2. During dinner, a ballot will be opened on Tabroom for all individuals to rate all of the entries. That ballot will be open until the end of the evening Friday. The top 3 best costumes will be awarded mass amounts of Halloween candy during the awards ceremony on Sunday.
Contest restrictions: Costumes should be appropriate in terms of dress. Costumes cannot include weapons (fake or real) or anything that can be construed as a weapon. Costumes should not be politically motivated. Preferably costumes will not include masks that cover up the face when walking in the halls--or that would impede your ability to debate. We are expecting coaches and judges to help us police this policy, as necessary, to ensure that students and schools do not get in trouble. If you or a student is questioning if a costume is appropriate, err on it not being appropriate. Please do not jeopardize our ability to host this tournament in the future!
