for the 2025 National Tournament
East Los Angeles NSDA2025 Nat Quals Speech Gabrielino High School
When: Friday March 7 and Saturday 8 2025
Where: Gabrielino High School
Events: Dramatic Interp, DUO Interp, Humorous Interp, Informative Speaking, International Extemp, National Extemp, Original Oratory, Program Oral Interp.
Entry Fees: Speech Events - $20.00
Judge Ratio: One for Five Entries. It is vital that you meet your judge obligation!
Judge Requirements:
- Must be 4 years out of High School
- Cannot be a Coach associated with your school.
Coaches may be asked to judge during break rounds as a last resort.
Type of Tournament: Live and In-Person.
*All students must be active members of the NSDA with at least 25 competitive points before entry will be accepted. They must also have an active NSDA Account
** All schools must be fully paid on all outstanding NSDA School and Membership Fees in Order to Compete (Not Tournament Fees)

Belonging & Inclusion Station
The Belonging and Inclusion Station (BIS)—formerly Equity Office—exists to address violations of harassment and discrimination policies and provide a safe space for individuals who report harassment and discrimination incidents at NSDA district and national tournaments.
The BIS may serve as a resource for any student, coach, judge, or official participating at an NSDA-sponsored tournament. Complaints may be filed if an individual feels as if an instance of harassment and/or discrimination has occurred. Examples include:
Perceived discriminatory practice on the basis of (but not limited to) race/color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity/expression, age, disability, sexual orientation, and/or veteran or military status.
Perceived retaliation, harassment, or intimidation due to an individual’s filing of a complaint or participating in an intake regarding a violation of the NSDA’s harassment and discrimination policies.
There will be a Belonging & Inclusion Advocate onsite at the following locations:

Should you have a situation thatdeals with belonging and inclusion please fill out this form in full and submit it to our BIS officer. There should be a designated location within thetournament for us to meet via Zoom should that be necessary. Someone will contact you as soon as possible. Protest Procedures - We will follow the Protest Procedures as outlined in the NSDA Unified Manual. Please see me, Tony Ugalde, District Chair for any protest or procedureal questions. I will Chair the protest committee and our district committee will adjudicate all protest filed. The committee consisting of Kevin Tong of Alhambra High School, Terry Colvin of Arroyo High School, Nicole Dalton of Flintridge Prep/Westridge School and Derek Yuill of Gabrielino High School.
