West Texas District Tournament
2025 — TX/US
West Texas District Qualifier
for the 2025 National Tournament
*Please note: NSDA rules dictate that we have 4 prelim rounds of debate and 3 prelim rounds of Individual events. Depending on entry numbers, some events may go to semi-finals after prelims and others may go to finals.
Debate Topics: We will be using the MARCH topics for PF and LD. They are:
LD - Resolved: The development of Artificial General Intelligence is immoral.
PF - Resolved: In the United States, the benefits of the use of generative artificial intelligence in education outweigh the harms.
PF and CX will use the round robin method. Each team will debate every other team (including ones from their own school) once. PF will run all five rounds on Friday back to back to back starting at 4:30pm. CX will run three rounds on Friday and two rounds on Saturday. There will not be any out rounds, the event is complete after the initial rounds. The qualifiers will be determined based on the results of those rounds. Any changes in entry numbers may cause this schedule to change. LD will have four prelim rounds followed by a single elimination bracket. All debaters who lose 0 or 1 round will advance.
