Ugly Sweater Invitational Featuring the January Resolutions

Where: Online or West Bend East/West High Schools 1305 E. Decorah Rd. West Bend, WI. If you are near West Bend and want to join us, we’d love to have you in the building. All competition will take place online via NSDA Campus rooms.

When: Saturday December 21st. Rounds will begin at 8:30 CST.

What: 5 rounds of LD and PF in JV and Varsity divisions. JV is defined as a student in their first 2 years of high school debate. 3 rounds of Policy in Novice and Varsity Divisions. Novice is defined as a first year debater and will follow WDCA rules. WE WILL USE THE JANUARY RESOLUTIONS IN PF AND LD!!

There will be no outrounds. There will be awards to the top teams and speakers following the last round that will be mailed out ASAP after the tournament or delivered in person to Wisconsin teams.

UGLY SWEATER CONTEST. Wear your favorite ugly sweater and we’ll pick the best ones and give them a prize. Look for more info closer to the tournament.

Judge Obligations: 1 judge for every 2 entries of fraction thereof. Obligations are set by style of debate so 1 JVLD +1 VLD entry = 1 judge. We reserve the right to combine judge pools in PF and LD should they be small. Please indicate in a judge note that a judge should only judge 1 of those styles.

Fees and Deadlines: PF and Policy teams; $30/ entry. LD $25 per entry. A limited number of hired judges are available for $150.

Format: We will use NSDA Campus for all debates unless everyone is in West Bend.

Deadlines: Entries and Judges will be locked as of 5 PM CST on Wednesday December 18th. You will be obligated for judges and entry fees as of that time as well as any entries added after that deadline.
