If you are looking for Wisconsin's annual TOC bid tournament you're in the right place with bid opportunities at Finals for LD and Semis for Gold PF.

Our tournament is hosted on Friday and Saturday. In Varsity LD and PF, based on entry numbers, we offer 6 or 7 prelim rounds, with 2-3 rounds on Friday and finishing all rounds by Saturday evening, with all winning records advancing. Our plan is to continue with our past practice of single flighting all rounds if at all possible. PF and LD divisions are in person. CX divisions are offered in a hybrid format.

Judging is 1 judge per 2 entries or fraction thereof. In divisions holding elimination rounds, judges are committed to judge through the first full elimination round after all their debaters have been eliminated in that division.

Friday Schedule VPF & VLD:

Arrival/Check-in at Vel Phillips Memorial HS starts at 3:00 pm. We have a non-student day, but classrooms will be in use until 4:00 but gathering spaces will be open.

Snacks will be available for sale on Friday but the main goal is to allow teams to either travel back home or be able to obtain a team dinner of their own choice.

LUNCH - Thanks to donations from the teammates of Tony Chung a pizza lunch is made available to all competitors and judges
Round 6 1:30
First Elim (or run off with all 4-2 records advancing) approximately 3:00. A state-bid run off will be offered to WI debaters who are 3-3 and not yet qualified for state.
Remaining elims proceed as efficiently as possible. If entry count justifies the reduction of round 6, all 3-2 records will advance.

For JVPF. JVLD, and CX (novice and varsity) we will offer a Saturday only five or three round tournament with no elimination rounds.

If you are thinking of coming and staying overnight, we recommend booking rooms on the southwest side of Madison or in Middleton as soon as possible as there is a Wisconsin-Oregon Football game happening on Campus.
