Champlin Park Debate Invitational

Champlin Park is excited to host you and your school! We will be offering Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, and Congressional Debate. Both Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will be offered at the Varsity, JV, and Novice levels; although we may collapse the top two Public Forum divisions into one Open division based on the number of registrants.Please arrive by the tournament by 8 a.m., and check in online, by phone, or in person by 8:15.

We will be debating the below topics for Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum. Congressional bills will be posted the week of September 30th, including two bills reserved for Super Congress.

JV and Varsity LD: Resolved: The United States ought to require that workers receive a living wage.

Novice LD: Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be mandatory

Public Forum (Novice, JV, and Varsity): Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially expand its surveillance infrastructure along its southern border.

Registration: 7:30-8:15 or at Door E3.

LD , PF, & Congress Round 1: 8:30

LD & PF Round 2: 9:45

Congress Session 2: 10:30

LD & PF Round 3: 11:00

LD, PF, & Congress Lunch: 12:00-12:45

LD & PF Round 4: 12:45 *For students who need access to a prayer space, the LMC will be available to you between rounds. *

Super Congress: 1:00-2:30

Bills for super: A Resolution to Amend the Constitution to Remove the Sovereign Immunity Clause & A Bill to Make College More Accessible

LD & PF Round 5: 2:00

Awards: ASAP in the Cafeteria

Judging Obligations:

Schools are required to provide one judge per two entries (one public forum team is considered one entry) in LD and PF. If an odd number of entries are registered in LD or PF, you are required to bring an additional judge. Schools should provide one Congress judge per 5 congressional entries or fraction thereof.

Food / Concessions:

Doughnuts/muffins/bagels and pizza will be available for purchase during breakfast and Lunch. Additional beverage and snack options will also be available. Coaches and judges will have their meals provided by the tournament.
