Brenda Boudreau Debate Invitational
2024 — Wichita, KS/US
October 2, 2024
Dear Coach,
We are pleased to invite your team to the Brenda Boudreau Novice Debate Invitational, taking place in person at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School on November 9th, 2024. This tournament is now accepting entries in the Novice, JV, and Open divisions.
About the tournament:
Our debate tournament honors the legacy of BCCHS's long time Debate and Forensics coach, Brenda Boudreau "Boo," who was a teacher at BCCHS from 1980-2017. Boo was an English, Speech, Drama, and Debate teacher for a total of 50 years. She began her teaching career in Wilmot, AK, then Moundridge, KS before teaching at Bishop Carroll. She earned her teaching degree from the University of Arkansas-Monticello and a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. Boo affected the lives of many students whom she taught and coached and is remembered for her huge personality and even bigger heart.
Awards:
This tournament will be held on Saturday, November 9th. There will be four rounds, with the top 3 teams with the best records receiving recognition in each division (Novice, Open, and JV). Sweepstakes awards for the top three schools will be given.
Judging:
Each school is required to provide one judge for every 2 entries and is encouraged to bring additional judges. Third and Fourth year debaters may judge for this tournament. I am going to attempt to use Tabroom for judging, but if this doesn't work, we will do paper ballots. There will be a hospitality area with some drinks and snacks, as well as a provided lunch for judges and coaches.
Novice debaters are required to utilize the NDCA Novice Caselist.
Entry Fees/Concessions:
Entry fees will be $6 per entry. We will be providing lunch for this tournament between the 2nd and 3rd round. Lunch will consist of pizza and a cookie.
