Dear Colleagues, McClintock Masque and Gavel is proud to invite you to the Jim Fountain Classic Invitational Tournament on October 18th and 19th, 2024. At this tournament we will be offering Congressional Debate, Novice/Varsity Divisions of LD & Public Forum, we will offer Novice and Varsity Policy and collapse to an open division if necessary, and the full compliment of individual events.This year, we are allowing triple entry in speech events.
We will be using a staggered debate schedule to hopefully prevent any need to flight debate rounds. The schedule will be posted soon on the sidebar of this website. One thing
Fees:No school fee will be assessed. Entries will be $10 for individual entries, $20 for partner event entries (Duo, Duet, CX, and PF)
Debate Topics:PF and LD will use the appropriate September/October topics for each division (Novice LD will use the Novice LD topic for Sept/Oct)
Open LD: Resolved: The United States ought to require that workers receive a living wage.
Novice LD:Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be mandatory.
PF (Both Divisions): Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially expand its surveillance infrastructure along its southern border.
Policy Debate: Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.
If we have to collapse Policy to an Open Division, it will be restricted to the use of the 2024-25 NDCA Novice Policy packet (Google Drive link).
Congress: Bill submissions are due by October 4, 2024.The docket will be published on Tabroom by October 7, 2024. Please use the NSDA Templates for formatting legislation.ALL SUBMISSIONS SHOULD BE IN PDF FORMAT ONLY (That one courtesy will save Richie a significant amount of time.) We will be using DIRECT QUESTIONING for both sessions of Congressional Debate.
Please note that all entries will be due prior to 5:00 p.m.on Monday, October 14th. Drops and name changes are due by 6:30pm on Thursday, October 17th. Any drops after that date will be assessed the entry fee amount for said event(s). Additions to the entry and modifications will also be accepted until that date.
Judges need to be finalized by October 17th.
Please post your drops and/or changes online as soon as you are aware of them.Entries and drops will only be accepted through Tabroom. We are excited to be the first full-service tournament of the season this year. While our dates are a little earlier than our usual last-weekend-of-October, we are still excited to be the Spooky Season tournament. As always, MHS Students will be dressed according to a theme (for easy visibility when seeking them out for questions or directions). We absolutely invite and encourage dressing up and having a good time! We're looking forward to seeing everybody at MHS!
