Boomtown Classic NIETOC Bid Tournament

The Borger High School Speech and Debate Team cordially invites you to attend the Boomtown Classic September 21, 2024. We promise a well hosted hospitality room serving meals for breakfast and lunch. Dinner will be provided should things run late. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day for all judges, coaches and bus drivers.
We are excited to serve as a NIETOC Bid Tournament this year. We look forward to helping add bid credentials for your students as they kick off this forensic season. We promise panhandle friendliness and a competitive environment. We are already working on local judges and will include training for these judges prior to our tournament day; however, as things go in this area we likely will utilize coaches to assist in judging - but plan on this being as minimal as possible so we all have the opportunity to support our novices as they set out on their new journeys.
Pattern A: DX, DI, DUO, INF, IX, POE
Pattern B: DUET, HI, OO, POI, PR
Congressional Debate:
Prelims - Legislation 21-25
Finals - Legislation 26-30
Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas will use the Sept / Oct Resolutions.
Sweepstakes Awards will recognize the top three schools, top individual speaker in IE events (OO,INF,FX and DX), top interp performer in IE events (DUO,DUET,HI,DI,POI,PROSE,POETRY).
Awards will be offered to:
Individual awards for all finalists in all events (top 8 in Congress)
Semi-Finals and Finals for debate events will be paneled. Finals for IE events will be paneled. Semi Finals will be paneled if possible.
NIETOC Bid Information:
During with the 2024-2025 competitive season, bids are gained at the following levels:
0-19 contestants = FIRST PLACE BID
20-34 contestants = FIRST, SECOND & THIRD PLACE BIDS
35-50 contestants = FINAL ROUND BIDS
51-70 contestants = SEMIFINAL ROUND BIDS
71-99 contestants = QUARTERFINAL ROUND BIDS
100 + contestants = OCTAFINAL ROUND BIDS
Borger students will be competing in this tournament and hold eligibility to place should they advance to elimination rounds. We have many novices this year learning the ropes, but do have some more experienced competitors.
Current schedule may be slightly adjusted; however, start time will not change. Any expected schedule changes will be emailed to those registered and posted on this site.
