Dear Vancouver Debate Academy (VDA) Students,

We are excited to announce the upcoming "Winter Wrap-Up” End-of-Term Tournament scheduled for March 9, 2024! This tournament will serve as a platform to showcase your skills, challenge your peers and celebrate your progress throughout the term. All students across the Academy are encouraged to participate! NSDA points will be awarded through tabroom.

Debate Format:

  • Canadian National Debate Format, speech times detailed below.

    • JV & Open Rounds 1, 2 and 3 will be impromptu, with competitors debating both sides.

    • Novice Rounds 1 & 2 will be impromptu with case conceptions and outlines presented prior to the motion. Students will receive a thirty minute briefing on the motion area prior to the motion being released. They will have twenty (20) minutes of prep after the motion is released to prepare.

  • This tournament will be a round robin with no breaks only final seedings based on wins and ranks.

    • In the event tiebreakers are needed we will prioritise averaged ranks and then drop high and lows.
