Dear Golden Desert Speech and Debate Coaches and Competitors:

The Rancho High School Speech and Debate Team along with the RHS administration would like to invite you to the 1st annual Rancho High School Speech Invitational to be held Friday, November 7, and Saturday, Novmber 8, at Rancho High School.  

This will be a panelled tournament.  Students are able two double enter in both panels with the exception of Extemp.  Due to time constraints, Extemp cometitors may only compete in Extemp in panel B.  The panels are as follows:

Panel A:  Oratory, Duo Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu, Poetry Interpretation

Panel B:  Domestic Extemp, International Extemp, Dramatic Interpretation, Expository Speaking, Prose Interpreation

We will be hosting three rounds from Panel A on Friday night and three rounds from Panel B on Saturday morning.  Semi-Final and Final rounds will be held on Saturday afternoon. There will be awards based on Friday and Saturday’s results.

This speech(IE)-only tournament will offer novice, varsity levels in all events.

The important dates for this tournament are as follows:

Entries due:                             Tuesday, November 4 by 5 PM

Drops:                                    Wednesday, November 5 by 5 PM

Drops after the deadline:        $8 per student (we would rather have a substitute than a drop)

Team entry fees will be determined based on the entries at the close of registration.

Rules and Regs:

1. This tournament will run according to the Golden Desert Forensics League rules.

2. All entries need to be entered using Tabroom.com.

3. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, November 4th by 3 PM. 

4. Adds and Drops will be accepted until Wednesday, November 5th at 3 PM.

Changes are a hassle for the tab room.  Changes after the deadline (drops or adds) will be an extra $6 per change on top of the entry fee.  Substitutions are better than drops. No extra fee for substitutions. Entry fees will be determined based on the entries at the close of registration.

5. The tournament will take place at Rancho High School, located at 1900 E Searles Ave, Las Vegas 89101.

6. Events will be $8 per person and $16 per Duo.  The team fee will be $35.    Please make your entry fees payable to Rancho High School and bring that with you when you come.

7. Please bring judges.  You should provide a judge for 6 entries, or fraction thereof.

8. Events:   Dramatic, Humorous and Duo Interpretations, Domestic and Foreign Extemp, Original Oratory, Expository, Prose, Poetry and Impromptu.

9. Limits: 10 per each level in all main events.

10.  This is a Paneled event.  Students may enter up to 4 times, or two per panel with the exception of Extemp.  Due to time constraints, Extemp competitors may only enter once in Panel B.  The Panels are

Panel A:  Oratory, Duo Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu, Poetry Interpretation

Panel B:  Domestic Extemp, International Extemp, Dramatic Interpretation, Expository Speaking, Prose Interpreation

10. Concessions will be at the consession stand.  Cane's Chicken Fingers will be served on Friday night.
