CBSR Individual Event Championships
2024 — San Bernardino, CA/US
The 2024 CBSR Individual Events Championship Tournament will be held Saturday, March 9 and Sunday March 10 at Cajon High School, 1200 Hill Drive, San Bernardino.
Please do not enter if your school did not have CHSSA dues paid by 2/25/2024.
• Schools are limited to a maximum of 12 entries per event.
• Double entry is allowed, including double entry in the same pattern.
Pattern A consists of Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu, National Extemp, Original Oratory, Original Prose Poetry, and Program Oral Interpretation.
Pattern B consists of Declamation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Informative, International Extemp, and Original Advocacy.
• CHSSA no longer requires coversheets. However, it is the coach's responsibility to ensure that scripts meet all CHSSA rules and to have a copy of all scripts at the tournament in case of questions or challenges. Script information, including a bibliography for INF, OA, and OO, will be asked for when registering.
• Each event will have three preliminary rounds on Saturday and a semifinal and final round on Sunday. All final rounds will run at the same time.
• Between the final round and awards, all coaches will designate their team's choices to participate at the state tournament ("the dance"). Please come prepared to make binding decisions regarding which event your qualifying competitors will commit to. Remember: there are no double entries at state this year, so some events may see deep roll-ups, quite possibly into semifinalist positions.
• Former competitors must have graduated in 2022 or earlier in order to judge.
• Judge requirements are 1 judge for every 8 entries (or portion thereof) on Saturday and 1 judge for every 4 entries competing on Sunday. A double-entered student counts as 2 entries!
• Please have your judges enter standing conflicts for their students. Instructions on how to do this are on the "Judging Resources" tab, as are instructions for creating an account. This will save time on the day of the tournament.
• Because of tournament settings, your Sunday judge requirement may be understated on tabroom.
• Judges on Sunday are committed to judge through the final round regardless of whether the school has advancing entries.
• Judges will need a WiFi enabled device to enter ballots electronically. Phones will work, but most judges find judging on a phone is problematic. A laptop or tablet is generally better.
• Training on the day of the tournament is limited. Because this is a championship tournament, please try to bring experienced judges. There is a list of "Judging Resources" on the right side of this page. Encourage your judges to access these resources.
• Students and judges must have tabroom.com accounts linked to your school in order to register. Judges' accounts must include a cell phone humber.
