2024 AIA Speech & Debate State Tournament

Important Tournament Notes:
- A tournament invoice will be sent by AIA post-tournament.
- All events will be held in-person.
- This tournament is for Arizona high schools only.
- Please Note: This Tabroom tournament site will host both divisions' tournaments. Coaches should register their competitors in the correct division. If you are unsure of your Division, you can find it on the sheet linked here: 2023-2024 Division Alignments. For additional details, see the AIA's website here (5A-6A schools register for the Division-I events while 1A-4A schools register for the Division-II events).
- Friday: Congressional Debate will start at 8:00 AM, all other debates will begin at 3:30 PM.
- Saturday: Extemp draw will be at 7:30 AM and IE rounds will start at 8:00 AM.
- Coaches should be the one preparing the team's entry.
Entry Restrictions:
- Policy, LD, BQ and PF Debaters will be allowed to double-enter in Congress and two IE events.
- IE Competitors may double enter in speech, no IE triple entries allowed.
- A school is limited to six entries per event.
- The 2024 AIA State Tournament will NOT be a Big Questions Debate national qualifier this year. Big Questions Debate national qualifiers will be determined at the District Qualifier, March 21-23.
Congress Legislation:
Congress legislation must be submitted to Tabroom.com by 2/16. If there are more than 10 items submitted per Division, teams will ballot for the final docket. Please follow submission guidelines and use the supplied templates.
Tournament Scholarships:
Both the Institute for Speech & Debate (ISD) as well as the Southwest Speech & Debate at ASU (SWSD) have graciously provided summer camp scholarship opportunities to participants at the 2024 AIA State Tournament!
Southwest Speech & Debate at ASU: All outround participants will receive a scholarship to the SWD summer camp at ASU. Scholarships will be awarded based on the following standings:
- Elimination Round Participants = 10% Scholarship
- Final Round Participants = 15% Scholarship
- State Champions = 20% Scholarship
Scholarships are fully transferable and are stackable up to 60%. Click SWSD at ASU for more information.
Institute for Speech & Debate: State champions will receive a $400 scholarship and finalists will receive a $200 scholarship. Scholarships are towards the 2024 two-week Speech & Debate summer camp. Half the value may be applied towards the one-week programs. The scholarships are transferable and can be used at any of ISD's three locations (Carolina, Florida, Online).
