Dear Coaches,

Highland Park High School is pleased to invite your team to ICDA 5, an ICDA

invitational and Tournament of Champions qualifier, on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

ENTRIES & FEES

Please register all students as varsity debaters on Tabroom.com by Friday, January 12, at 5:00 p.m.

The Oversight Committee will automatically move eligible competitors into TOC chambers.

The entry fee is $10 per debater. Please make checks payable to Highland Park High School. If mailing

DROP-OFF & PARKING

The main entrance on Vine Avenue is closed on weekends, so buses should drive to the back of campus

and use the parking circle off Saint Johns Avenue for drop-off. Teams should enter the building

through the H-Entrance. Buses can park in the adjacent north parking lot.

SCHEDULE

Registration: 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. (at the H-Entrance)

Judges meeting: 8:00 a.m.

- 8:15 a.m. (in the library)

Session 1: 8:15 a.m.

- 10:30 a.m.

Session 2: 11:00 a.m.

- 1:15 p.m.

Lunch: 1:15 p.m.

- 2:00 p.m.

Session 3: 2:00 p.m.

- 4:15 p.m. (TOC chambers might run late due to reseeding)

Awards: ASAP in Auditorium

JUDGING

In addition to the usual requirement of one judge for every nine invitational debaters, each school will

need to provide a coach or very experienced judge if any of their students qualify for TOC chambers.

For example:

if a school enters eleven students and one qualifies for TOC, that school will be required to

provide two judges for the invitational tournament and one coach/experienced judge for TOC.

if a school enters ten students and one qualifies for TOC, the school will need to provide one

judge for the invitational tournament and one coach/experienced judge for TOC.Judges should expect to serve all three sessions. Your school’s judging obligation will be frozen on

Friday, January 12, at 5:00 p.m. based on the number of competitors registered in Tabroom. Subsequent

drops will not be considered when making assignments.

Please have judges entered in Tabroom by Wednesday, January 17 at 5:00 p.m. Final judging

assignments will be released the day of the tournament.

Varsity chambers: 3rd floor of A-Wing and 2nd floor of C-Wing

FOOD

Debaters will eat lunch in the student cafeteria. Cheese, pepperoni, and sausage pizza is available for

purchase through Tabroom. The cost is $17 per cheese pizza and $18 per pepperoni and sausage pizza.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for judges and coaches.
