Hello students, coaches, and community members!

We’re excited host a speech and debate Novice Night forthe Des Moines metro on Thursday, December 14th at Johnston High School from 5:00 - 8:00 pm (extemp draw @ 5, R1 starts @ 5:30). NO ENTRY FEES and varsity team members are strongly encouraged to judge.

We’re offering two rounds of both speech & debate, as well as one round of congress. During extemp draw, all student-judges will get a brief intro to constructive judging. All novice entries welcome!

Pizza and a pop will be provided free of charge.

Schedule for 12/14:

4:30 - 5:00 pm Check in at Johnston High School cafeteria

5:00 pm R1 Extemp draw begins in library

Student Judge presentation in cafeteria

5:15 pm Pairings released (R1 & R2)

5:30 pm Round 1 (Speech & Debate)

CD Session begins

6:30 pm R2 Extemp draw beings in library

7:00 pm Round 2 (Speech & Debate)

7:45 pm CD Session ends

8:00 pm Clean up & leave
