East Novice Events Invite 2023

Greetings Coaches!

You are invited to attend the East Novice Tournament (Sat Oct 28)! This tournament will be held in person at Cheyenne East High School (2800 E. Pershing Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82001). This event is intended to be fun, low-stress, competitive experiences, and we hope your students will join! We will allow Varsity “Angels,” and we would love your help recruiting Varsity Judges. This year, we will offer: Humor, Oratory, Poetry, Extemp, Info, Congress, Drama, Duo, POI, LD, PF, and CX. All events will allow scripts. For Policy, we encourage you to share your novice affirmative case areas as soon as possible. In Extemp, we will allow students to access the internet during prep and to use notecards.

Resolutions:

• LD - Resolved: The United States ought to prohibit the extraction of fossil fuels from federal public lands and waters.

• PF - Resolved: The United States federal government should forgive all federal student loan debt.

• Congress - Novice Congress Docket 2023

• CX - Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income.

Novice CX Case Areas:

• Basic Income: Universal Basic Income

• Basic Income: Basic Income for Persons at or near the Poverty Level

• Federal Jobs Guarantee: Green New Deal

• Social Security: Medicare for All
