Delta Novice
2023 — PASCO, WA/US
Welcome to the Delta Novice tournament. This should be a great opportunity for our new competitors (and any middle schoolers) to experience a tournament without all the pressure of a full tournament. The "open" students will act as guides and judges so this should also be low pressure for the coaches. Open students can receive service points with the NSDA for judging and will be able to participate in the SPARfest fun debate before our closing ceremony,
We won't be announcing placings for the events, but students will get a fun item to take home and ballots with comments as well as a valuable and hopefully fun experience.
Costs are just $5 per entry- no team fees. Payments can be made with a card via school pay (link coming soon) or by mailing a check or PO to Delta High School ASB- for Speech and Debate.
Judging obligations:
You are not required to enter any judges into tabroom but you are expected to bring enough experienced "open" students to judge based on your entries. Debate students should have participated in the type of debate you have entries in if at all possible.
Speech events: 1 judge every 4 entries.
Debate: 1 judge every 2 entries
TOPICS:
We plan to use the fall WA state Congress packet and the November topics so that our novices can try them out and not have to prep a new topic once the regular season begins. We will update here once topics and packets are released.
