Welcome the first (hopefully annual) Olney High School Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, November 11, 2023. We will offer all traditional UIL speaking events (except Congress) including CX debate, LD debate, Persuasive, and Informative Extemporaneous Speaking. Students will be allowed to cross-enter in some events.

CX: $40

LD: $30

IEs: $20

Judge Fees

All missing judge fees are $150

1 judge for every 2 entries or less for CX

1 judge for every 4 entries or less for LD

1 judge for every 6 entries or less for Interp

1 judge for every 6 entries or less for Extemp

TOPICS

CX Debate: Policy debate will use the 2023 - 2024 topic.

Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income.

LD Debate: LD Debate will use the UIL Fall 2023 topic.

Resolved: Wealth inequality in the United States is detrimental to democracy.
