Ore City HIGH SCHOOL
PRESENTS THE
TOURNAMENT THAT TEACHES
SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2022
Welcome to the “Tournament That Teaches” for novice and varsity competitors. In the morning, novice students will participate in educational sessions conducted by some of the best instructors in the state, and in the afternoon, they will have “educational” rounds. Novice students will be provided with cases, briefs, and other materials.
New to this year, we will add intermediate/advanced lectures for the varsity CX and LD students to attend in the morning. There will be two lectures during each time slot. Students may pick which lecture they want to attend for each time slot. In the afternoon, varsity students will have two rounds.
We will offer all traditional UIL speaking events (CX debate, LD debate, Congress, Persuasive, Information, Prose, and Poetry. These tournaments are intended for schools or teams that prefer "UIL style" forensics.
We will be using tabroom for registration and balloting.
For information on how to make a tabroom account check out this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyTqMwhRJpo
For information on how to register for the tournament after creating an account is here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc3pdZi5WXM

For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Kenneth Adcock at adcockk@ocisd.net or by phone at 817-240-7930(cell)

Tournament Notes
WE ARE ASKING THAT YOU KEEP CROSS ENTRIES TO A MINIMUM. WE WILL ADVANCE WHERE NECESSARY, BUT THE CORE GOAL FOR THIS STYLE OF TOURNAMENT IS TO FOCUS ON TEACHING OUR STUDENTS AND GETTING THE YEAR KICKED OFF! WE ARE THANKFUL THAT YOU ARE COMING TO ORE CITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST TOURNAMENT THAT TEACHES ON OUR CAMPUS. WE HOPE TO CONTINUE THIS MOVING FORWARD AS WE GROW INTO THIS MODEL OF TOURNAMENT.
WE ALSO WOULD LIKE TO REMIND YOU THAT IF A STUDENT HAS SIGNED UP FOR EITHER NOVICE OR VARSITY DEBATE THE MORNING IS DEDICATED TO CREATING AN EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE DEBATE EVENTS THAT THEY WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THIS UPCOMING SEASON!
EX. LD, CX, AND CONGRESS THESE STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO STAY IN THE EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS WHICH IS WHY WE ARE REQUESTING CROSS ENTRIES TO BE AT A MINIMUM, OR AT YOUR OWN RISK.
