Stephenville UIL Congress Invitational

Stephenville High School proudly invites you and your students to attend our UIL Congress Invitational on Saturday, October 21, 2023.*

We will offer both novice and varsity divisions as long as demand calls for it. If entries do not justify a split, we will combine the two. Competitors should be prepared to debate the ESC Region 11 UIL Legislation.

JUDGING REQUIREMENTS:

One judge for every six entries or portion thereof.

FEES:

School Custodial Fee - $20 per school

Congressional Debate - $20.00 per entry

Missing Judge Fee - $150.00 per judge

We reserve the right to refuse participation to any school that hasn’t paid leading up to the tournament. We request that all payments be made three days prior to the start of the tournament.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Concession Stand:

We will have concessions available for purchase throughout the day including pizza by the slice, homemade baked goods, candy, popcorn, and soft drinks. Proceeds will benefit our speech and debate program.

Hospitality Room:

A peaceful retreat will be set up for coaches and judges. There are a few other events happening at the school that day, so we ask that only adults pass through the magic doors to the lounge area.

Chambers andAwards:

Both novice and varsity divisions are offered. We will recognize the top 6 novice debaters and the top six from each varsity chamber.

Legislation:

Students will be debating the ESC Region 11 UIL Legislation.

Packets and Placards will be provided upon check-in.

Facility Entrance:

Please have your students enter through the Cafeteria doors on the east side of the building. There will be signage directing participants. Check-in will be in the Cafeteria as well.

*Homecoming Traffic:

Tarleton State University Homecoming is also October 21, 2023. Streets and restaurants may be more crowded than normal.
