UIL Speech & Debate Equity Project

On April 11th, 2023, at 5:00 pm we want to host a virtual one-off practice round for LD. This is largely for regional qualifiers, but anyone who is interested is welcome to participate. If you want to give your students more opportunity to practice and learn, that is the goal, while others may be preparing for regional contest, the goal is to give you the chance to continue growing your skill.

This is FREE of charge and is a project in equity, the goal is the give schools with limited resources and limited budget, and any other constraints that might prevent you from practicing the craft, that is, speech and debate access to rounds.

I hope you will consider joining me through the testing of this project as I work to iron out the bugs and make a more UIL-focused version of what NSDA has already been practicing with the springboard series that they have put together.

If you would be willing to serve as a judge with this project, there would be no payment as that creates a cost and would force us to charge for this service, and that is not what we are going for with the project. This would also create great low-stakes opportunities for you to judge as you grow into other events and learn how to better coach your students. So please consider judging, as we need all the help we can get in this area to keep cost FREE and affordable for the tournament host.
