Lennox Middle School Oral Interp would like to invite you to the first Lennox Middle School Oral Interp competition to be held April 4, 2023 at the Lennox Middle/High School in Lennox, South Dakota. The schedule will allow for three rounds of competition to take place after school. We will offer 7^th and 8^th grade divisions in dramatic interp and humorous interp as numbers allow. Duo, Non-original oratory, and poetry will be mixed unless numbers allow for multiple divisions. Time limits for all events are 10 minutes except story telling which has a maximum of 5 minutes. If you have middle school students that competed during the high school division, it is strongly encouraged that they use a new selection (chance to get them ready for next year).

Students may double enter, but it is their responsibility to get to the rounds on time. No student may triple enter. The registration fee is $3 for individual entries and $5 for duo entries. Each school is required to furnish one judge for every six (or fraction thereof) entries. (For example, 1-6 entries requires 1 judge; 7-12 entries requires 2 judges, etc.) High school students in grades 10-12 who have participated in a significant number of high school oral interp rounds may serve as judges. You MUST bring that number of judges on Thursday. We do have some (NOT MANY) judges available for hire from the tournament at a rate of $50. Please indicate if you need to hire a judge on your entry.

Schedule:

Registration from 3:30-3:45

General Meeting 3:45-3:50

Round 1: 3:50-4:55

Round 2: 5:00-5:55

Round 3: 6:00-7:00

(Food available after round 6:00, but don’t be late for rounds.)

Awards scheduled for about 7:15

Concessions will be sold at the tournament.
