DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: 11:59 PM on Monday, February 6, 2023
Only schools that have turned in a completed, NCFL “Data Card” form may register.
Only schools that have paid the $125 JCFL membership fee may compete.

Events at 2023 CFL District & National tournaments:

Lincoln Douglas Debate
Policy Debate
Public Forum Debate
Student Congress

Dramatic Performance (“DP”) – must be either Dramatic Interp (“DI”) or Humorous Interp (“HI”) from a published source that can be authenticated

Extemporaneous Speaking (“Extemp”) – domestic and international topics will alternate rounds

Oral Interpretation of Literature (“OI”) – must have both prose and poetry from published source(s) that can be authenticated; prose and poetry rounds will alternate

Oratorical Declamation (“Dec”) – event is limited to Freshman and Sophomore students

Original Oratory (“OO”) – must be composed by the speaker; the number of words quoted from other authors must not exceed 150 and extensive paraphrasing of other sources is prohibited

Duo Interpretation of Literature (“Duo”) – must be from a published source that can be authenticated

ENTRY LIMITATIONS FOR THE 2023 JCFL DISTRICT TOURNAMENT:

Each school may register up to 40 total entries in debate and IEs combined. Congress is NOT
included in the 40-count.

Individual students may enter a total of three events, not including Congress.

For example, a student can do ONE debate (all on Friday) and TWO IEs (all on Saturday morning) … or NO Friday debate and up to THREE IE events on Saturday.

Any student may enter the Saturday afternoon Congress no matter what debate or IE events they are also entering – but the student MUST be registered for Congress by the Monday, February 6 deadline (no late adds into Congress).

Up to TWO, proposed bills for JCFL Congress may be submitted to the moderator of by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, January 31. The JCFL Congress packet will be available sometime Saturday, February 4.
