Greetings to you all! The VHSL Region 6A Forensics Tournament will be held at Cosby High School on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Additionally, the Region 5C Forensics Tournament will also be held concurrently at Cosby High School. We are conducting these tournaments in-person, and we are excited to have you join us! You will find the essential information regarding the tournaments below.

Please note that because we are hosting two separate tournaments concurrently, it is important that you register your students in the correct categories and regions (either 6A or 5C). Please see the lists below if you are unsure of which region your schools belong.

Tournament Format

We will run Option B in the VHSL Forensics manual – 3 consecutive rounds with 2 judges per round. All competitors will compete in all 3 rounds. Since there is no final round for this tournament:

· All 6 ranks & scores will count unless dropping the worst rank is needed to break a tie in both rank and score (VHSL Handbook page 18)

· For sweeps, a 5-3-1 scoring system will be used (VHSL Handbook page 18)

Where to Report

Registration will be from 9:00 - 9:30 am outside of the Commons. All individuals will enter through Door 11- which is through the student lot/ broad side of the building. Vending machines are available on-site for concessions. There will be a hospitality lounge for coaches and judges. More information about student lunch options to be announced.

Extemp Draw: 9:30 am

Round 1: 10:00 am

Round 2: 11:15 am

Round 3: 12:30 pm

Tabulation Software

We will be utilizing Tabroom.com to operate this tournament, and for online balloting. If you do not already have one, you will need to set up an account and complete all registration via this platform. The link to the tournament site is below.

Additionally, every student, coach, and judge will need to have a tabroom.com account linked to your school’s account. All individuals will need to bring a connectable device with them on the date of the tournament. Students will need a device to access pairings. Judges will need a device (laptops preferable) to complete ballots. Coaches will need a device to access their dashboard, assist their students’ technological needs, and troubleshoot any potential issues.

Final registration is due on Tabroom by Friday, February 3^rd.

Judging Obligations

Please secure 2 experienced judges for each tournament. Due to the possibility of unforeseen events, we ask that coaches refrain from listing themselves as judges. Any judges used will be paid an honorarium for their service (provided by the VHSL). Please add your judges to your Tabroom registration. We will notify you ASAP if there is a reduced need for judges. All judges must have Tabroom accounts and bring a connectable device with them to complete online ballots.

Please be aware that the Super-Regions 6AB and 5CD will also be held at Cosby High School on February 25^th, and will follow the same format and guidelines. Any student who places in the top three of their events at regionals will qualify for the next round of competition to be held on the above date.
