Dear Coaches,

You are cordially invited to the Holy Family Eye of the Tiger Varsity Invitational. This competition will be held both IN PERSON on Saturday, February 11th. This will be a great place to practice for the upcoming State and National Qualifying tournaments or try some new events!

Tournament Highlights:

• • We are starting a little later - because anyone who knows me knows I hate mornings!!

  • This tournament will be “I.E. Heaven”! Students may double/triple enter!

  • All events are guaranteed 4 rounds. We will hold Finals for as many events as we have judges for!!

  • Earn points to be eligible for upcoming National Qualifying tournaments and tune up for State.

  • *We are also offering a couple of new “fun” events - Character Congress and Broadcasting - try one or both!!

DOUBLING/TRIPLING:

• If a student would like to enter Congress and another event they may, but that will cost them debating time.

• Students may only enter one Extemp event - either National or International but may enter an Extemp and any other events they can manage.

• All other students may enter into as many events as they can manage.

CONGRESS and LEGISLATION:

• Congress and Character Congress: Legislation should be sent to angela.smith@holyfamilyhs.com by no later than Friday, February 3, 2023.

• Character Congress entries are encouraged to write legislation as their chosen characters for the Character Congress Docket.

• All Dockets will be compiled and posted on Monday, February 9, 2023 for students to begin researching and preparing.

• No walk-on legislation will be allowed on the day of the tournament.

• Awards will be presented to PO, Outstanding Speaker, and Superior Speaker in each chamber.

• Character Congress entries will be sent 3 characters to choose from and are encouraged to compete as one or more characters throughout the day.

• Costumes are encouraged for those entered in Character Congress.

REGISTRATION:

Registration opens on Thursday, February 26th. Please make sure that your entries are registered on Tabroom - by no later than February 8th. Register at http://eyeofthetiger.tabroom.com/

SCHEDULING:

• 8:00 am - 8:30 am Registration - Extemp Draw begins at 8:45 am if possible

• 9:00 am - 10:30 am Round 1

• 10:45 am - 12:15 pm Round 2

• 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm Round 3

• 2:15 pm - 3:45 pm Round 4

• 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Finals Rounds

• 6:00 pm Awards

Internet:

We will use electronic ballots, so please have judges bring an electronic device! Congress and Extempers will be able to access the internet during the tournament.

Judges:

We will be using ONLINE ballots so if you have a device and charger, PLEASE bring it with you!

• All schools are asked to bring 1 judge for every 4-6 entries.

• Coaches may be asked to judge if we do not have enough judges to cover the entries

• We will pay the judges you bring $15 per round and feed them great food all day.

Fees and Payment:

The entry fee will be $10 per student per event, per event ($20 per Duo) $8 per student for Congress.
