East Novice Tournament 2022

Greetings Coaches! 

You are invited to attend the East Novice Tournament (Oct 29)! This event will be held in person at East High School, and is intended to be a fun, low-stress, competitive experience, and we hope your students will join! We will allow Varsity Angels, and we would love your help recruiting Varsity Judges! This year, we will offer: Humor, Oratory, Poetry, Extemp, Informative, Congress, Drama, Duo, LD, PF, and CX. All events will allow scripts. For Policy, we encourage you to share your novice affirmative case areas as soon as possible. In Extemp, we will allow students to draw a topic and use the internet for prep. Please call with any questions about any event!

East Novice Tournament Schedule

Registration:

• Please use this Tabroom site for registration; you may make changes until the end of registration the day of the tournament. $5.00 per entry.

Resolutions:

• LD - Resolved: The People’s Republic of China ought to prioritize environmental protection over economic growth.

• PF - Resolved: The United States’ strategy of Great Power Competition produces more benefits than harms.

• Congress - We will use a pre-set docket (click link). 

• CX - The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.

• Artificial Intelligence: Restrict development and/or use of Lethal Autonomous Weapons

• Biotechnology: Ban the use of germline genetic engineering in humans

• Biotechnology: Substantially increase funding for vaccine research

• Cyber: Ban offensive cyber operations
