Invitation for ICDA 2

 

First and foremost, thank you to Grayslake Central for such an excellent ICDA 1 and starting this year’s debate season on a wonderful note.  Adlai E. Stevenson is pleased to invite your debate team to compete in the Illinois Congressional Debate Association 2 tournament on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  Below are the details of the invitation.

 

Parking

Buses should drop off students in Lot D, in front of Door 19.  This lot is north of the intersection of Stevenson Drive and Route 22.  Follow the signs for Parking Lot D.    Parking for minibuses and individual cars can also be in Lot D.

 

Legislation

Legislation for ICDA 2 was received on Tuesday, September 27.  JV & Varsity are doing the same bills for ICDA 2. 

 

Entry Deadline: All entries are due by 5:00 P.M. Friday, October 21  on tabroom.com.

 

A school may enter up to 45 debaters at the Varsity level and 20 JV/novice debaters.

 

Tournament Registration Fee:

The entry fee is $10 per debater. This is based on your original registration on tabroom.com. TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION checks should be made payable to:

Schedule:

Registration                            7:15-7:45am

Judge meeting                        8:00-8:15am

Session 1                                 8:15-10:30am

Break                                       10:30-11:00am

Session 2                                 11:00-1:15pm

Lunch                                      1:15-2:00pm

Session 3                                 2:00-4:15pm

Elections/Awards                    ASAP

 

Homerooms are cafeterias:  Each team will be assigned a portion of the cafeteria as your home base. This is where each team will start in the morning, and eat lunch after session 2. Debaters are encouraged to keep their belongings with them throughout the day.  Please:  no eating or drinking in the chambers.

 

Judging:

Each school is required to provide one judge for each session for every 10 entries. The number of entries includes all students from your school entered in the Varsity and Novice levels of the tournament. The number of judges you are responsible for is based on the original entry; drops will not be considered while scheduling judges.

 

Food and Concessions

Pizzas will be available for pre-order by Friday, October 21.   The cost will be $16 per pizza, and you may specify your preference of cheese, pepperoni, or sausage.  Otherwise, debaters supply their own lunches.

 

Concessions for student purchase will be sold throughout the day.  Cash only. 

 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for the coaches and judges.

 

Awards:

Awards will be outside in the football stadium. Teams should sit on the bleachers by the press box.  This year's awards ceremony will be held at our football stadium.  Encourage your students to wear their Halloween costumes—only at the awards ceremony!  Please anticipate approximately 45-60 minutes after Round 3 prior to the awards ceremony. 

 

Please monitor that no full-face masks are worn.  Halloween masks cannot substitute for face masks. 

 

WI-FI ACCESS

The d125_public WiFi network will be enabled for the east side of campus, which is where the tournament will be taking place.
