Joshua UIL Academic Invitational

Thank you for considering attending the Joshua UIL Academic Meet at Joshua High School on January 21, 2023.

Events: We will offer all speech and debate events (including CX) and all academic events (including Computer Science Hands On).

Schedule: We do not follow the traditional conflict pattern. Please check the schedule for conflicts. We modify our schedule to try and get everyone out earlier than most meets. The main two events that are moved are Computer Science and Literary Criticism. If you have a student competing in one of those two events that has a conflict with another event, please contact yeildingc@joshuaisd.org and I will do my absolute best to make arrangements so that your student may participate in both events.

2023 Joshua Invitational Schedule

Divisions: We will offer 9/10 and 11/12 grade divisions in all math/science events for individual placings. Team placings will be combined 9/10 & 11/12.

Awards:1st, 2nd, and 3rd will receive medals. 4th, 5th, and 6th will receive ribbons. First place teams will receive a plaque. Sweepstakes winner and runner-up will both receive plaques.

Materials: We will be using UIL Set A materials.

Graders:Schools must provide graders for all events in which they are entered except for Journalism. We have hired a pool of journalism graders with decades of experience to provide your students with great feedback. We charge an extra $4 per entry in Journalism to offset the cost of these graders. We hope you understand.

Hospitality:We will have our annual chili/soup/baked potato bar going around 11:00 AM. Please join us! We will also have assorted pastries and fruit for breakfast.
